The season started at the end of April with our first match at Kingsmeadow. We were missing a few key members due to the University Championships being on the same day, but those of us who were there performed well and we finished second.
The second match saw us going to Portsmouth where as usual the wind was blowing hard. Again it was a small team that turned up and it was a tight match between us, Herne Hill and Dartford. Our third match was at Woking where our men’s team was also competing. With people back from university we had a really strong team that won the match and the atmosphere was great as we could cheer the men on as well.
For our fourth match we were back at Kingsmeadow where, despite the forecast of sun, the rain started at about 1 o’clock and fell hard for a couple of hours getting us all soaked. At our 5th and final match at Kingsmeadow we had a full and strong team turn out, with some of our Under 17s making their first appearance we easily finished first with over 100 points. As well as a great team performance there were also a handful of personal bests despite the long season. Our final performance moved us up two places so that we finished 6th overall out of 16 teams.
A big thankyou to everyone who competed this season; Amy, Charmaine, Claire, Di, Eloise, Emily, Jenny, Jo, Ilana, , Isabel, Katie, Katrina, Lizzie, Maddie, Maisie, Rosie, Wendy and Zoe with Liz , Jenny, Wendy, Di and Katie competing in all 5 matches.
